Day Tripping
Experience and learn about Central Oregon through the Chamber's series of 10 different day trips of Prineville and Crook County. Each day trip will take you to a scenic area. Want to just see the area from the comfort of your car? These are the trips for you. The day trips also allow you to get out and experience the area — hike, bike, fish, camp and cross-country ski as you learn about the geographic wonders and historical content of this beautiful country.
Golf
Crook County's moderate weather offers golfers nearly year-round opportunities to keep their game up to par! Whether you are a scratch golfer, weekend player or getting serious about the game, you'll find your niche at Meadow Lakes, the public green in Prineville, designed by Bill Robinson. The Prineville Golf & Country Club offers private memberships to golf their greens against a classic Central Oregon rimrock setting east of Prineville. Brasada Ranch offers their guests and homeowners greens designed by PGA golf veteran Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy.
Recreation
There are 11 parks that span over 100 acres of land in the Crook County Parks and Recreation District. The district coordinates recreation programs and maintains the heated outdoor swimming pool. There is a walking/bicycle path that runs east/west, spanning 2.5 miles through the center of town and through Ochoco Creek Park.
Prineville Reservoir State Park welcomes visitors who want to boat, swim, fish or just picnic or camp at the reservoir. Ochoco Reservoir also offers camping and fishing just six miles out of town. Just minutes out of town, the Lower Crooked River has been designated as one of the BLM's National Wild and Scenic Rivers.
There are also a number of art walks and community events each year that give that "something special" to Prineville. Please visit our Calendar of Events for what may be happening during your visit.
